A few words from Honey...
My name is Honey. I'm a 11 year old, honey-coloured Cockapoo (an exotic mix of Cocker Spaniel and Miniature Poodle). Look out for photographs of me throughout this website. I’m the glamorous one!
I have a very handsome brother called Hendrix. He is jet black (apart from his white beard). We were born at the same time and moved to live with our humans when we were 8 weeks old.
It’s just in our nature to have fun by rolling around in mud and swimming in any water we can find - the dirtier the better - much to our human’s disappointment. They prefer us clean and fluffy!
Hendrix and I have visited many dog grooming parlours and have been dissatisfied with the overall experience and end result. Having spoken to our friends about their dog grooming experiences, it became clear that we all felt the same.
We love to feel relaxed, safe and secure when we are groomed. We want to be pampered, spoilt and thoroughly loved. We also like to have some toys to play with.
So we sat down and told our humans exactly how we felt and persuaded them to open a dog grooming parlour of our very own.
They are now qualified City and Guilds dog groomers who take the best of care of us and our friends. So come along and try out some of our Perfect Pooch services.
Ellie - Founder & Managing Director
A dog lover first and foremost, Ellie wanted to create a dog grooming experience with a difference. Having been disappointed in the grooming services that were offered locally for her pooches, Honey & Hendrix back in 2008 she decided to train as a groomer and open the salon with her mother Sue.
Ellie is thrilled to have such a great team around her that work incredibly hard to ensure Perfect Pooch remain for many the first choice for their pooches grooming needs locally.
Zuzana - Grooming Stylist
Zuzana is an excellent experienced groomer with almost 13 years' hand on experience - 4 of which have been with Perfect Pooch. She has brilliant relations with our pooches and their owners and is always very happy to accommodate any special requirements a client may have. In her home town of Slovakia she gained plenty of experience working with large breeds so is more than happy to work with our bigger pooches who visit the parlour.
Bridget - Grooming Stylist
Bridget has a lovely attitude, often going above and beyond her client's expectations. Bridget has her own 4-year-old dog called Panka who is a Bichon. She is very skilled at grooming many different breeds, but especially likes the smaller ones! Bridget comes from Budapest and joined us a trainee groomer over 3 years ago. Since then she has progressed to a head grooming stylist standard with fantastic grooming skills.
Queenie - Grooming Stylist
Queenie completed her grooming training back in 2014 and joined the Perfect Pooch team in 2016. Queenie is polite, patient and prides herself on her ability to offer style suggestions to our clients whilst taking their own preferences seriously. Queenie will always offer suggestions based on your dogs condition and breed. She will always make sure your dog is well cared for, safe and very well groomed !
Jennifer - Grooming Stylist
I'm delighted to introduce a new member of the team... Jennifer.
Jennifer started her career in the Health & Social Care Sector so is no stranger to working in demanding environments whilst keeping a cool head. Jennifer lives and breaths dogs, she decided to put her love for dogs to good use and embarked on an intensive dog grooming course in August 2016 and qualified in September 2016. Jennifer has since been grooming and adopts a holistic approach where possible. She is the proud owner of Poppy a pug x Jack Russel, Jack a Romanian rescue and Ernie a Toy Poodle. Jennifer's passion is Asian fusion grooming and attending seminars and grooming competitions.
Kata - Grooming Stylist
Kata joined Perfect Pooch as our wonderful Grooming Assistant over two years ago, she has worked very hard to progress her grooming skills and we are now very happy that she is now a fully trained groomer here at Perfect Pooch . Kata knows the majority of our pooches very well and offers them great care and attention during their visit, making sure they are happy and feel safe.

We recognise that our caring dog owners look for daycare which is safe, loving, fun and flexible, we appreciate your need for peace of mind when leaving your dog for the day. He is a part of your family and we as dog owners know how special they are.
- Does your dog dislike being alone for long periods of time?

- Or maybe needs a bit of practice being with other dogs?
Perfect Pooch offer an affordable friendly safe solution. Our daycare service caters for dog owners who wish to drop their dog off and collect their dog from us between 8:30am - 5:00pm Monday / Saturday.
During their stay with us, we offer them the freedom to run from our daycare room to our garden through to our grooming area. We have learnt over the years that our dogs enjoy the simple things in life - company and cuddles.
Our team enjoy getting to know each dog, how they like to play, how they interact with others. It's truly magical getting to know each dog's personality and watching them make new friends.
Our clients often comment that after a full day with us their dog is pooped !!
We ask that your dog comes to us for a complimentary half day to establish how he fits in with the existing doggies and how he enjoys his day. If all is well we are happy to offer daycare to your dog. Unlike other daycare we do not require you to sign up for regular days, we appreciate people's commitments vary from day to day, however, we do ask for a day's notice to manage numbers. All our daycare doggies are friendly and like meeting new friends.
We do offer a feeding service if you wish, providing an organic, natural menu to choose from. This can be arranged on the day or if your dog has a special dietary requirement we are happy for him to bring a packed lunch.

The very proud owner of Perfect Pooch Grooming Spa, Ellie Wickham qualified as a City & Guilds Teacher in 2008 with a very clear objective: to offer an affordable, enjoyable, professional training academy open to anyone who has a real passion for dog grooming. Students who secure a place at Perfect Pooch Academy will not only receive a professional, thorough training course with a qualified, experienced team but Ellie also offers business advice and guidance on progressing your career within dog grooming or support in getting your own business off the ground.
Ellie has various successful businesses and therefore comes with the knowledge and enthusiasm to offer Perfect Pooch students some invaluable business advice.
Perfect Pooch Academy keep it simple, we offer two professional dog grooming courses. One of which is our 10 day Grooming Assistant course and the other a 20 day "Make Me A Groomer" course. Both courses are brilliant by the way!
Included in all our course prices is a workbook and all the supportive reading you will require to support your learning throughout the course duration, we also provide a start up dog grooming kit to get you started. Each student will have an assigned mentor who will take them through the course set by step, we believe this encourages confidence and streamlines the training all together. Your mentor and the team will welcome you with friendliness and encouragement.
"Make Me A Groomer" Course: 20 Days - £3500.00
Wow, this course really is an exciting one. It's hard to believe that in such a short space of time you could be a dog groomer oozing with confidence but it's true it really doe's happen. This course will no doubt gain your confidence in dog grooming a variety of different breeds. The Perfect Pooch team put this course together with the aim of allowing the students to really get "stuck in" you truly will be part of the Perfect Pooch team. You will of course cover all aspects of the Grooming Assistant course along with much more. Our owner Ellie overseas all training to ensure it meets with current Introduction to Dog Grooming City & Guild standards so that if you choose to compliment the Perfect Pooch Grooming course with the City & Guilds qualification, this can be arranged for you off site for an additional cost. The "Make Me a Groomer" Course will cover the additional following aspects:
- Clipping & styling a variety of breeds,
- Hand stripping,
- Scissoring & styling a variety of breeds,
- Spa treatment training,
- Portfolio to take away.
Grooming Assistant Course: 10 Days - £2200.00
Perfect Pooch offer this superb 10 days course which runs from Monday to Friday 9:30 - 4pm. The Trainee Grooming Assistant course is ideal for perhaps a school leaver looking to break into the wonderful world of dog grooming or maybe a student who is looking for a new exciting career change, could be the course for you? The Grooming Assistant course will cover the following aspects:
- Health & safety in the salon,
- Hygiene,
- Correct handling of dogs,
- Basic first aid for dogs,
- Maintenance of salon equipment,
- Carrying out a health check,
- Basic dog behaviour,
- Ear hygiene,
- Teeth hygiene,
- Pawdicure (a complete pedicure for dogs, nails clipped, pads shaved),
- Choosing the correct products to a given dog's needs,
- Bathing and drying,
- De-matting,
- Brushing out/ Fluff drying,
- Basic breed specific styling under supervision,
- Exceptional customer service.
